Visiting southern Tunisia: a suggested route
By 3H Travel

Ksour, troglodyte villages, dunes and oases: how to plan a trip across southern Tunisia from Djerba.
Southern Tunisia is best explored as a circuit: from Djerba the road leads to Medenine, Tataouine, Matmata then Douz and the Djerid. Here is how to prepare your route.
Ksour and Berber villages
The ksour of Tataouine, such as Ouled Soltane, impress with their stacked ghorfas. Chenini and Douiret, perched on the mountain, offer fine views and homes carved into the rock.
Matmata and Douz: troglodytes and dunes
In Matmata, visit a troglodyte home to understand this architecture. In Douz, a camel ride and a night in a tent are classics; nights can be cold in winter.
Tozeur, Nefta and Chott el Jerid
Crossing Chott el Jerid, then the palm groves of Tozeur and Nefta, is a fine way to end the circuit. Allow at least three days and avoid the hottest hours in summer.
We can adapt the duration and comfort level (hotel or camp) to your budget.
